Chancellor’s Report on Philanthropy
Fall 2022
Dear ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ supporter,
As we begin the fall semester, I want to thank you for your continued support of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ through your generous contributions. Without you and your investment, many of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½â€™s key initiatives would not have been possible over the years.
On Aug. 4, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ named the Joseph E. Usibelli Engineering Learning and Innovation Building to honor and recognize the contributions of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ alumnus and philanthropist Joe Usibelli. Through Joe’s lifelong commitment to building a culture of giving, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ has been able to present distinguished teaching, research and service awards to faculty members, fund student scholarships and construct modern facilities such as the Usibelli Building and the UA Museum of the North.
Your philanthropic efforts, like Joe’s, not only are essential to our success but also live on through the inspiring stories of students, faculty members and the people of Alaska. Your kindness has made us a better institution.

The new engineering building now carries the name of one of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½â€™s most generous supporters.
Through mostly small individual contributions and an annual fundraiser, the fund contains about $370,000.
Alumni from across Alaska and several states, including Florida and California, met in Fairbanks for the first in-person reunion since 2019.
Becky and Marv Hassebroek, Design Alaska, and the Rasmuson Foundation help improve the garden’s access and aesthetics.
ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½â€™s John Walsh has funded a team to report on what the Arctic could look like in 2100 under several warming scenarios.
